This project began as a letter to my son.
KultureCity invited me to produce a video to mark 10 years of their sensory inclusion program. When I set out to start writing, I thought of a recent trip to the Georgia Aquarium and how it impacted my son and our family.
Before we left for Atlanta, I shared with my son the KultureCity social story and I was surprised at how excited he was to see the KultureCity logo. At the venue, he excitedly pointed out every sign he saw, and did not let me forget to get his sensory bag and put on his headphones as soon as we were inside.

From that trip to the Georgia Aquarium

At the end of the day, I was curious about his love for KultureCity and how he reacted to simply seing their logo. I asked him (8-years-old at the time) what he felt when saw that logo.
"Safe".
KultureCity is more than just a service that provides training and a bag - it's a brand that is a statement to families like ours - "You are safe here. You are wanted here. You belong here."
This project was a huge undertaking - with multiple venues across the southeast, all with crowds and special events to navigate, a celebrity voice over and intro to shoot and direct with little notice, and quite a few actors to find in all these locations. I could not have done it without Troy Candor (my producer) and Lance Cooper (to operate the camera and talk me off of a ledge or two along the way).
It was an emotional journey that was enabled by the kindness of a lot of people, and a project I'll always treasure.
